about salt salt were a three piece alt-rock band consisting of nina (vocals, guitars), jim tegman (drums) and daniel ewerman (bass). they met at art school around 1992 and formed salt, although they were first called 'god damn carneval'. before changing their name to salt they went under many different ones, 'miry bliss' being the last. they once had a fourth member of the band who painted on the stage while they were playing. salt disbanded in 1996. about grand tone music one year later nina returned with grand tone music (gtm), a softer, almost alt-country (at least the first album) sounding band with salt drummer jim tegman and dan lepp on the organ. patrick andersson joined the band a few years later as the bass player. gtm released 3 albums, the last of which (go to hell) had a much more poppier sound, while still retaining the gtm feel. the status of gtm is unknown at this time. about baxter a year after the first gtm album was released nina fans were surprised by the release of the first baxter album. accustomed to hearing nina in a rock oriented setting, nina was singing vocals in a trip-hop drum'n'bass act, and she never sounded more natural. baxter, which also contained carl-michael herlöfsson and ricky tillbalad, was picked up my madonna's label, maverick, in the united states, and has probably been nina's most successful project outside of sweden to date. four years later baxter released their follow-up album 'about this' and several months later the impossible to find 'about this special edition'. baxter are currently working on their third album. about the rest if you think three bands and a graphics career are enough for nina then you'd be wrong. nina also did guitar and background vocals in 'ace leaf', a short lived project which released one seven inch christmas record. copies are available via email. nina was also the drummer in 'give her a gun' and sang background vocals for 'jimbob'. she has also done many guest vocals on other artists albums. in 2004 nina released an all swedish album with martin hederos titled 'visorna' which did exceptionally well in sweden. 'jazzen', the follow-up album was released in late 2006. as well, nina is also working on a project with american brent hunter, to be released in early 2007. the project is to be many songs strung together into one continuous eighty minute song, and is in the genre of trip-hop. |
